Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to examine the lining of your bladder and the tube that carries urine out of your body (urethra). A hollow tube (cystoscope) equipped with a lens is inserted into your urethra and slowly advanced into your bladder.

The cystoscope has lenses like a telescope or microscope. These lenses let the physician focus on the inner surfaces of the urinary tract. Some cystoscopes use optical fibres (flexible glass fibres) that carry an image from the tip of the instrument to a viewing piece at the other end.

O.I.U

Optical Internal Urethrotomy is used to treat urethral strictures, a medical condition when the urethra (the tube that drains urine from the bladder) becomes narrow. In this surgical process, the body tissues in the urethra are removed, to release it.

The surgical process normalises the urine flow, after releasing the urethra. The patients do not experience any kind of difficulty in urinating, after this procedure. It is a minimally invasive treatment, and the stricture is normalised with a laser, and no incisions or cuts are made.

U.R.S

Ureteroscopy (URS) is a form of minimally invasive surgery using a small telescope that is passed through the urethra and into the ureter to remove a stone. .

Often the stone requires fragmentation with a laser which then allows the smaller fragments to removed with a grasping device Only about 10-15% or urethral stones require surgical intervention. URS is approximately 95% successful in removing stones in the lower ureter and about 85-90% successful in treating and removing stones in the upper ureter and kidney.

T.U.R.P

Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a surgery used to treat urinary problems that are caused by an enlarged prostate. An instrument called a resectoscope is inserted through the tip of your penis and into the tube that carries urine from your bladder (urethra)

It contains a lighted camera and valves that control irrigating fluid. It also contains an electrical wire loop that cuts tissue and seals blood vessels. The wire loop is guided by the surgeon to remove the tissue blocking the urethra one piece at a time. The pieces of tissue are carried by the irrigating fluid into the bladder and then flushed out at the end of the procedure.

P.C.N.L

PCNL is a technique used to remove certain stones in the kidney or upper ureter (the tube that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder) that are too large for other forms of stone treatment such as shock wave lithotripsy or ureteroscopy.

This procedure has been performed on many patients over the last several years and is accepted standard of care for patients with kidney stones that are large, very firm, or resistant to other forms of stone treatment. As such it has replaced open operations for kidney stones in the vast majority of patients.

TURBT

During a TURBT procedure, the surgeon inserts a tool called a resectoscope through the urethra to reach the inside of your bladder..

This tool has a surgical loop on it that resects (cuts off) the entire tumor from your bladder. TURBT is appropriate for patients with early-stage bladder cancer..

Urethroplasty

Urethroplasty is an open surgical reconstruction or replacement of the urethra that has been narrowed by scar tissue and spongiofibrosis (urethral stricture). Urethroplasty is the gold standard for urethal reconstruction with the best and most durable results.

A graft is a piece of tissue that is transferred from one part of the body to another. A graft does not have its own blood supply, so it relies on the blood supply of the host (where it was transferred to) to survive. Grafts are used to increase the size of the narrow urethra by patching it, rather than a total replacement.

Nephrectomy

With a complete or radical nephrectomy, a urological surgeon removes the affected kidney by making an anterior (from the front) or lateral (from the side) incision. If kidney cancer is the reason for a radical nephrectomy, additional tissues may be removed along with lymph nodes and adrenal glands.

Pyeloplasty

Pyeloplasty is surgery used to correct a condition called ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction. UPJ obstruction blocks the flow of urine out of the kidney into the ureter (the tube attaching the kidney to the bladder).

This operation is used to correct a blockage or narrowing of the ureter where it leaves the kidney. This abnormality is called a ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction which results in poor and sluggish drainage of urine from the kidney. UPJ obstruction can potentially cause abdominal and flank pain, stones, infection, high blood pressure and deterioration of kidney function.
